1981 DeLorean. This car has 10, 720 actual miles and a clean title. This car was
purchased new by a Ford executive, and he sold it in 1983 with 3, 000 miles on it to the gentleman that I purchased
it from. There were only about 100 miles put on this car a year for the last 13 years. When we got the car, we had
the air conditioning revived, which means that there were no leaks in the system, but the original fluid went dead
and we had to convert it over so that the air blows cold now. We also wanted our mechanic to tune it up but he
wasn't that familiar with DeLoreans so the tuneup parts come with the car. It's possible that this car was only
tuned up once or twice throughout its whole lifetime since it wasn't driven very much.
All the receipts from when the original owner had the car, are in a folder and the second owner that we purchased
the car from who owned it for 33 years rebuilt the transmission in 2003 with 9, 300 miles. I'm not sure how good or
bad Delorean transmissions are, but this one here was totally rebuilt 1, 400 miles ago, and that's one thing you'll
probably never have to worry about. We like the idea of this car being automatic VS. stick, because now any member
of the family can drive it. The body, as you see in all the pictures, is really really nice. We can't imagine it
being much nicer than it is for a 35 year old car. The interior is also all original and in absolutely fantastic
condition; please view all the pictures. This car spent most of its life in storage, so if you win the car I would
suggest having everything checked out before you use it as a daily driver, since everything is original and
everything is 35 years old. But we've been driving it around, on both city streets and the freeway and it seems to
run okay.
This DeLorean has six struts to hold up all the doors. They're all weak except for the driver's door since it was
replaced. You can order a set of six from the DeLorean catalogue for about $200. The power mirrors work, but
certain angles don't turn. The driver's power window works, but the passenger's power window clicks but sticks. The
car has all 4 original DMC wheels. The car is sitting on all 4 original tires, and they're not dry rotted
whatsoever.
